About me

Hey! Brenda here, the owner of Taal met Brenda. I have been passionate about languages for as long as I can remember. In secondary school French and English were my favourite subjects and I loved practicing French whenever we visited France in the summer vacations. This is one of the reasons I studied International Business and Languages, where I also learnt basic Spanish.

Background

After I finished my studies, I worked in hospitality for over 20 years. During this time I had various roles, but the common theme in all of them was supporting others and helping them grow. It truly makes me happy to see others progress towards their goals. It was also in this highly international industry that I rediscovered my love for language. At the end of 2022, the passion for languages took over and in January 2023, I started teaching Dutch as a volunteer in a community center. I quickly discovered that teaching Dutch is the perfect activity for me as it combines my two passions; helping others grow and my passion for languages.

Personal life

My partner Martin and I have two sons (both teenagers). I was born and raised in Amsterdam and hope to teach my sons the value of humanity and compassion in a multi-cultural society. When I have some spare time, I enjoy going for long walks or a run.

Experience

I have experience with teaching small groups and individuals. My courses have a practical character with space for any questions you may have from real life situations and the flexibility to achieve your personal goals. I believe every lesson should have some fun elements in it to make sure learning is pleasant.
